Ilomska river emerges from the earth on northwestern slopes of Vlašić mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina between Žežnička greda (1477 m) and Javorak (1492 m) peaks. It flows around Lisin (1494 m) and Runjavica (1316 m) peaks constantly changing directions through the evergreen forests, mainly afforested with spruce.Ilomska river has many springs that gives water to it's flow, but Manatovac spring is the most powerful and it's clear and plentiful water was the main reason that Skender Vakuf municipality has made a project for bringing the fresh water as a solution for the problem with lack of drinkable water in Skender Vakuf.
Suitable for outdoor sports
Whole area beside river is suitable for different kinds of outdoor sports. Existence of the wood road near the river is suitable for mountain biking and hiking tours. Clear water is a natural habitat for different kinds of river fish so Ilomska river is a nice destination for passionate fly fisherman.
But main reason for visiting of Ilomska river is the last two kilometers before Ilomska river came to it's end - Ugar river. These two kilometers is located in the canyon between Imljanske and Korićanske rocks. Rockey and narrow bottom of the river caused creation of the natural rapids and waterfalls with the one that is dominant and 40 meters high. That waterfall is a main reason for gathering of the nature lovers on Ilomska river and it is also suitable for rock climbing.
How to get there?
Approach to the last part of the Ilomska river flow is possible over the road from Travnik to Skender Vakuf with turning of this road just after the first bridge on Ugar river. Those who visit Babanovac ski and recreational center on Vlašić mountain could also visit this amazing river. This river is relatively unknown in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that is the main reason for preservation of it's natural beauty. For those who like landscapes with no trails and signs of human existence Ilomska river and it's canyon it the right place to came.
Sooner the better - because there is some plans of building the hydroelectric plant in the canyon that will ruin this beauty of nature. Every entering in this canyon before beginning of these works gave you the feeling that you are the last man on Earth. Now you can feel the same way only when you are near the waterfall.

Area around the spring of Ilomska river was the confrontation line in the recent war so there is a possibility that it is mined and dangerous. Area with the waterfalls is in the two last kilometers of the Ilomska river and it is safe for visiting with the local guides.
