Zvijezda - mountain beneath the stars

Zvijezda mountain is located in central Bosnia near the Vares city and it's top peak is located on the altitude of 1349 meter. We don't know anything about the origin of it's name but "zvijezda" means "star" and when you come there and enter it's evergreen forests only thing that you probably can see in the night is the stars on the sky.

Zvijezda is a very cold mountain in winter season and during the summer is a ideal place if you would like to escape the  heat of the long summer days. That area is rich with iron ore and people there was always famous for melting the iron and making tools out of it. One of the mysteries of Zvijezda mountain is balls made of magma, very heavy and well shaped that shows us that are made by human hand. Nobody knows when and why.

When you are entering Zvijezda mountain from Vares direction you have to pass by tunnel that looks like cave. The road inside the tunnel is unpaved, the walls are made of rock and by the side of the road there is a small water creak that sometimes flood the cave after the snow melts down at the end of the winter. Passing it without a car requires certain dose of bravery but that is normal thing for local citizens. Zvijezda forests is very nice tourist destination and we can recommend it to all.
