Romanija - heaven for rock climbers

In this article we will try to follow journey of two rock climbers from Tuzla, more precisely, members of the mountaineers club PD Konjuh that enjoyed in Romanija mountain rock climbing. We already said that Romanija is one of the most favorite mountains for this sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Most of the paths for rock climbing is well marked and secured with necessary equipment for climbing in the past decades while Romanija is discovered by the pioneers of rock climbing in our country.

Climbing routes on Velike stijene

This journey started at the new mountaineers lodge located at the altitude of 1200 meters with the warm welcome by the kind host Neno that welcomed our climbers with warm soup made of 5 different kinds of mushrooms. After the night spent in the mountaineers lodge new day started at 05:00 AM and after a while they came to the area called Velike stijene (Big Rocks). They choose central area for climbing with the rank of III-IV, details V. This is a highest climbing path on Romanija 150 meters long (1450-1600m) and it is marked on the pictures as path number 6. After one hour and 45 minutes this path is climbed with a great pleasure of the climbers. Beautiful panorama of Romanija was below them.

After a short brake they headed down to the Kaminski climbing path that is 58 meters long. After 45 minutes this path is also climbed. This path is difficult for climbing because it is very narrow and in some places human can hardly pass between narrow rocks.

150 meters on rainy rocks

After the brake our climbers came to the end of their journey. They decided to climb on the Zijina ljuska path that is 200 meters long with the climbed altitude of 150 meters. One thing make this climb very hard - rain starter to fall. With a lot of difficulties on the wet rocks, with some pauses while hiding from the rain our climbers successfully climbed that path and headed to the mountaineers lodge. The day was very successful and our climbers Muri and Igor discovered the best of Romanija. Romanija is a heaven for rock climbers and they decided to came back as soon as possible.
