Most of the Vlašić heights and pastures is located on the 1300 meters above sea level just like the most famous ski center on this mountain that is called Babanovac. There you can find a great hotels with affordable prices that gives you a nice starting base for outdoor sports like hiking or mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Average summer temperature on Vlašić is 14 degrees Celsius which makes it ideal destination during the hot summer days.
Rivers and waterfalls
Vlašić mountain is also a birth place for some rivers like Ugar, Ugrić and Ilomska and since most of that rivers flow through the rough terrains visitors can enjoy in waterfalls and rapids. Just two hours walking from the Babanovac ski resort you can find Ugrić waterfall 15 meters high, while some 45 minutes driving over the road to Skender Vakuf from Babanovac you can find bigger waterfall on Ilomska river that is 40 meters high.
Both waterfalls gives a visitor an opportunity to pass under and feel the power of the falling water.
Vlašić cheese
But when you talk about Vlašić the most famous thing to mention is the famous Vlašić cheese made of sheep's milk. It has a strong salty taste, it is very healthy it's made from the Vlašić mountain grass. Whole process of cheese creation is totally organic so this is one of the favorite things you can buy when you visit Vlašić.

Important note
Vlašić mountain was a place with a lot of fighting during the recent war. Some places are still covered with mines, but tourist spots and skiing resorts are totally safe for visitors. Hiking and cycling on unmarked trails could be dangerous and taking advice from locals or even taking the experienced guide is highly recommended.

Vlašić mountain is located in central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the highest peak Paljenik, 1943 meters high. That central position of this mountain makes it a one of the most favorite destinations for summer and winter tourism in the region.
