We could say that Maglic is highest, but not largest mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All hillsides, except northwestern, are very steep and overgrown with evergreen forests and beech trees. Forest line is approximately at altitude of 1600 m. Above that line is located plateau with excellent pastures. Many summits and ridges raise from the plateau – the most important are Vucevo (Crni Vrh 1591m), Rujevac (1835m), Sniježnica (1804m), Prijevor (Makaze 1668m), Mratinjska Gora (1576m) and the Maglic; ridge itself (2388m).
Beauty of Trnovacko lake
On the hillsides of Maglic is also located the largest primeval forest in Bosnia and Herzegovina Perucica. On the other side in the Montenegro we can enjoy the beauty of Trnovacko lake that has a glacial origin and that is 700 meters (2,300 ft) long and 400 meters (1,300 ft) wide. Trnovacko lake is covered with ice during the winter because of it's position between the 2000 meter high mountains on the altitude of 1570 meters above sea level. The lake is taken often for the starting or finishing point during the hiking tours on surrounding mountains.
In this article we could enjoy the short video taken from the highest peak on Maglic with a nice photo album taken by Mrs Adnana Huskic on her hiking tour to the top. We thank her for sharing this beauty with us.
